Clean Aperture
Problem
Many videos and images have black bars (letterboxing or pillarboxing) that waste cell space and look sloppy in a grid.
Solution
Clean Aperture automatically detects letterbox/pillarbox borders and crops them out, displaying only the active image area. Detection uses pixel-level border scanning.
Tier Availability
- Free: Not available.
- Plus / Pro: Automatic letterbox detection and cropping.
UI Flow
- Enable Clean Aperture from Preferences > Display or the toolbar.
- Media with detected black bars is automatically cropped to the active area.
- Disable to restore original framing.
Known Limitations
- Detection works best on solid black borders; dark but non-black borders may not be detected.
- Very thin borders (a few pixels) may be ignored to avoid false positives.
